How to Program a Range Rover Key in 5 Minutes
Adding a spare Range Rover key does not require module removal or a dealer. Here is the simple OBD workflow a Lock50 HW04 tool uses to do it in about five minutes.

Step 1 — connect over OBD
Plug the tool into the OBD port and let it identify the vehicle and RFA status.
Step 2 — read and add
With one working key present, the tool reads the system and adds the new key. On locked RFAs it unlocks first.
Step 3 — verify
Test both keys start the car. Done — no modules removed, no dealer login.

This video demonstrates the process of programming a spare key for a 2024 Land Rover Defender using the Lock50 JLR Key Tool. The Lock50 device, connected to the vehicle's KVM module (located under the passenger seat) via a special RFA-Adapter, is used to collect data, read existing key information, calculate security keys, and then write the data to a new blank key. The technical key duplication process is shown to be completed in approximately two minutes.

Land Rover Defender 2024, spare key added by us using Lock 50. Happy watching. So we're about halfway through the job now, so about a minute in. So the last part of this job now is um reading the key data from the KVM and then writing that to the new key which you're going to see very shortly. All in all, this job took about two minutes to complete from once everything was wired up. The process is about two minutes dead on the on the knot. Um no issues whatsoever. In most instances, it'll actually take longer to expose the KVM than it will to do the actual job itself. Um Land Rover Defender, very, very easy to find the KVM on this one. Um it's located under the passenger seat, you just move it all the way forward. Um and you can access it from the back to get it all undone. Put the seat all the way to the back and then you can access it from the front to actually do all the wiring. What you're going to see here now is the last part or we're nearing the last part of the actual job itself, um which is basically reading the original key which we're doing here. And then we then put the next key on so the key that we're going to write ID to here, and then any second now, that's job complete. So all in all, two minutes to actually complete the job in terms of technically, 10 minutes overall.
