How a remote CCF job works – cable, laptop, booking and the live session
Every JLR CCF activation in our coding and activations range can be done two ways: you code it yourself with the SW24 CCF editor on an HW04-B, C or C+ tool, or you order the activation and we do it for you by remote. This page explains the remote route from start to finish – what cable and laptop you need, how to book a time, and what happens in the session. Please read it all before you order so the job goes through first time.
1. What you need before you order
- The right cable for the car. From 2017 JLR moved module programming to DoIP (ethernet) – CCF on 2017-up cars, including all 2021–24+ EVA2 vehicles, needs the ENET cable: HW03-E OBD DoIP cable (£20). Order the cable with the activation if you do not have one – we cannot start without it.
- A Windows laptop. The Lock50 tool and our remote support are Windows only – no Mac. A Panasonic Toughbook is the best option: rugged, works at the car, and in our experience 95% of failed sessions are the computer or the internet, not the tool.
- Firewall OFF and antivirus OFF on that laptop for the session. Firewalls and virus checkers block the diagnostic traffic to the car and the remote connection. Switch them back on after the job.
- TeamViewer full client (download for Windows – not QuickSupport). Set the personal / unattended password to Lock50.co.uk (Extras → Options → Security) and send us the ID and password in text, never as a screenshot or voice note.
- Battery support / power supply connected to the car and a good, stable internet connection. If either drops during coding the job can fail and has to be re-booked.
2. Order, then book a time
- Order the CCF activation you want from the activations range – pay by card or with your reward points. The remote session for that activation is included in the product price; it is the same price whether you code it yourself or we do it.
- Add the HW03-E cable to the same order if you need one.
- Message us through the order comms on that order with the VIN, the car, and the times you can be at the vehicle. We confirm a slot. Lock50 is a booking-based service – there are no walk-in live sessions.
- We work in UK time, 10 AM to 6 PM. Outside the UK, check the time difference before you book so you are ready at the agreed UK time.
- Need hands-on help beyond the activation itself (fault finding, a car someone else has already worked on)? That is a separate paid remote support booking – see the support page.
3. The live session – step by step
- At the booked time: car on battery support, ignition on, HW03-E plugged into the OBD port and into the laptop, laptop online, firewall and antivirus off, TeamViewer running and not minimised.
- Send a fresh TeamViewer ID and password (Lock50.co.uk) in text through the order comms.
- Our technician connects to your laptop and logs in to the Lock50 tool.
- We read the car, back up the current CCF, and change the values for the activation you ordered.
- The module is written and reset so the new configuration takes effect, and we check the function on the car with you.
- You watch every step live on your own screen – nothing is hidden – so you learn how the job is done.
- Done. Switch firewall and antivirus back on. Your points for the order are already in your account.
Prefer to do it yourself?
HW04-B, C and C+ owners code the same activations themselves with the SW24 CCF editor – read the SW24 CCF editor guide and the module-function page to see what your package covers, or upgrade your HW04 with points. PAYG, A and A+ users order the activation and we do it as above.
Questions before you order? Use the order comms (free) or call 0330 2233446 with your order number. Hands-on diagnostics are always a booked session.
