Passive Locking Error Tones for Jaguar & Land Rover — Configure passive locking error tones – chirps off / on. Set in software via the CCF and coded to your VIN / As-Built over the OBD port — remote & mobile.
What this activation does
- Activates Passive Locking Error Tones on supported Jaguar & Land Rover vehicles (model years 2010–2026).
- Applied by editing your Car Configuration File (CCF) and writing it back against your As-Built — the setting holds through ignition cycles.
- Parameter reference: EUCD242. Coded to your VIN over OBD.
- No parts required — software activation only.
Key terms explained
-
CCF (Car Configuration File): The master list of feature flags stored in the vehicle. Setting a value here switches a factory feature on or off. All of these activations are done by editing the CCF, not by fitting parts.
-
As-Built: Your vehicle’s original factory configuration record, tied to the VIN. Every change is written back against your As-Built so the car stays consistent with JLR records.
-
Coded to your VIN: The change is applied to your specific vehicle over the OBD diagnostic port — remote and mobile, no bench work and no new hardware.
-
Error / Undefined: Factory enumeration place-holders that exist inside the parameter list. They are not real choices — do not select them.
The CCF parameters behind Passive Locking Error Tones
The dropdown above maps to these values in the Car Configuration File:
| CCF address |
Parameter |
Block |
Byte |
Bits |
Values (from the CCF data set) |
| 0x2357 |
Passive Locking Error Tones |
0x23 |
5 |
7–0 |
01 = Chirps off, 02 = Chirps on. |
The Passive Locking Error Tones option sets the Car Configuration File values above. It needs passive entry (keyless) hardware. Where the hardware is present but the option was never enabled we switch it on; software cannot add hardware that is not fitted — we check your As-Built first and set only what your car carries.
Passive Locking Error Tones — model coverage
Earliest model year the options existed on each line:

Earliest model years the CCF flag existed on each line; availability depends on fitted hardware and market. We confirm by VIN before any change.
Two ways we switch this on — both remote, over OBD
Depending on model year and architecture, Passive Locking Error Tones is enabled by one of two methods. We pick the correct one for your VIN — you do not need to know which in advance.
-
CCF editing over OBD — the Passive Locking Error Tones value (block 0x23) is written over OBD to the module holding the CCF, then that module is reset so the new configuration takes effect.
-
OEM-tool online configuration — where the module holding the flag needs its configuration re-issued from the manufacturer’s programming database rather than a direct CCF value, the same result is completed remotely through the OEM diagnostic tool’s online configuration for that module.
Either route is performed over the OBD diagnostic port, remote and mobile. Where the feature needs hardware your car does not carry, the hardware must be fitted first — software cannot add it. The change is reversible the same way.
