Remote Engine Start (RES) enable for Jaguar & Land Rover — let the engine be started remotely (from the key or app) to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin, and set how it behaves. Set via the CCF and coded to your VIN / As-Built over OBD, remote & mobile.
| Dropdown option | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not supported | The vehicle does not support RES — factory place-holder, do not select. |
| Vehicle supports RES | Enables Remote Engine Start. |
| RES not supported | Marks RES as unsupported — the feature stays off. |
| Stay ON in park or neutral | After a remote start the engine keeps running in Park or Neutral. |
| Switch OFF in park or neutral | The engine switches off when Park or Neutral is selected. |
| Switch off with position lamps or greater | The remote-started engine stops once position lamps (or more) are switched on. |
| Switch off with dip beam lamps or greater | The remote-started engine stops once dipped-beam headlamps (or more) are switched on. |
| Error | Factory place-holder value — not a real choice, do not select. |
The dropdown above maps to these values in the Car Configuration File:
| CCF address | Parameter | Block | Byte | Bits | Values (from the CCF data set) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0x4421 | Remote Start Capable | 0x44 | 2 | 1–0 | 01 = supports remote engine start, 02 = remote start not supported. |
| 0x4427 | DRL Transmission Interaction | 0x44 | 2 | 7–5 | 01 = daytime running lamps stay on in park / neutral, 02 = daytime running lamps switch off in park / neutral. |
| 0x4424 | DRL Main Lighting Interaction | 0x44 | 2 | 4–2 | 01 = switch off with position lamps and above, 02 = switch off with dip beam and above. |
Remote Engine Start lets the engine be started from the key fob or the phone app to warm or cool the cabin before you get in. It needs a car whose body and engine modules support remote start. Where the support is present but the flag was never enabled we switch it on; software cannot add the capability to a car that does not have it — we check your As-Built first.
Earliest model year the options existed on each line:
| Model | Platform | Model years | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Range Rover / Range Rover Sport | L405 / L494 | 2013–2022 | Remote engine start where the body and engine modules support it. |
| Land Rover Discovery / Defender | L462 / L663 | 2017–2026 | Remote engine start on the current Land Rover lines. |
| Range Rover / Range Rover Sport | L460 / L461 | 2022–2026 | Remote engine start on the current platforms. |
Earliest model year remote start existed on each line; it needs a car that supports it. We confirm by VIN.
Depending on model year and architecture, Remote Engine Start is enabled by one of two methods. We pick the correct one for your VIN — you do not need to know which in advance.
Either route is performed over the OBD diagnostic port, remote and mobile, with no bench work and no parts. The change is reversible the same way.
