What this activation does

  • Enables the tailgate and running-board features to match the hardware fitted — across two separate settings.
  • Covers the powered/soft-close tailgate (single-piece, split gate, or with deployable load floor) and retractable running boards.
  • Choose the value in each group matching your car. Software enable via the CCF — the motors/modules must be present. Coded to your VIN / As-Built.

Key terms explained

  • Soft-close tailgate: A tailgate that pulls itself the last part of the way shut so it doesn’t need slamming.
  • Split gate: A two-piece tailgate (upper and lower) that can be powered independently.
  • Deployable load floor: A powered/movable boot floor panel.
  • Retractable running board: Powered side steps that extend when a door opens and retract when driving.
  • CCF (Car Configuration File): The master list of feature flags stored in the vehicle. Setting a value here switches a factory feature on or off. All of these activations are done by editing the CCF, not by fitting parts.
  • As-Built: Your vehicle's original factory configuration record, tied to the VIN. Every change is written back against your As-Built so the car stays consistent with JLR records.
  • Coded to your VIN: The change is applied to your specific vehicle over the OBD diagnostic port — remote and mobile, no bench work and no new hardware.
  • Error / Undefined: Factory enumeration place-holders that exist inside the parameter list. They are not real choices — do not select them. Pick the plain-English option that matches your vehicle.

The Tailgate & Access Pack groups the powered-tailgate and tow-bar options — power open/close, soft-close striker, deployable floor and the electric deployable tow bar. Each needs the matching motor, striker or tow-bar hardware fitted. Where the hardware is present but an option was never enabled we switch it on; software cannot add a motor or tow bar that is not fitted — we check your As-Built first and set only the options your car carries.

The Tailgate & Access Pack on Jaguar Land Rover — 2013 to 2026

Two ways we switch this on — both remote, no parts

Depending on model year and architecture, the Tailgate & Access Pack is enabled by one of two methods. We pick the correct one for your VIN — you do not need to know which in advance.

  • CCF editing over OBD — on cars that carry the tailgate motor and tow-bar hardware we set the tailgate and access values above in the Car Configuration File, write them back against your As-Built, then re-configure the body and tailgate modules so power tailgate, soft close and the deployable tow bar work.
  • OEM-tool online configuration — where the module holding the flag needs its configuration re-issued from the manufacturer’s programming database rather than a direct CCF value, the same result is completed remotely through the OEM diagnostic tool’s online configuration for that module.

Either route is performed over the OBD diagnostic port, remote and mobile, with no bench work and no parts. The change is reversible the same way.
