Copying a key is free on an unlocked RFA or KVM — a token is only needed to copy when the module is locked.
On an unlocked RFA/KVM you copy a key free — from an MCU dump or key-to-key. Copying a key cannot be done over OBD — over OBD you add a key, which is only possible when the module is unlocked. To copy a key when the RFA or KVM is locked you need the copy token (SW36 Key duplicator RFA when locked 2017–2025 £400 · SW34 HW05/HW06 PCF7953 key duplicator when KVM locked 2010–2022 £100), and then only Lock50 Change-ID keys are allowed. On Version B you can instead swap in a new RFA module and adapt it using the New RFA programming already included in this package (SW27 unlocked BCM · SW28 locked BCM) at no per-job cost — once a new RFA is adapted with SW28 you can use any keys, OEM or non-OEM with no need to copy from the RFA or KVM. Version B also works over DOIP and CAN cables.

Who Version B is for
For techs handling locked keyless modules. Replace the RFA outright, or swap/adapt one in — free, no per-job cost — instead of paying to copy each key. Key copying stays optional. Once a new RFA is adapted with SW28 you can use any keys, OEM or non-OEM — no need to copy keys from the RFA or KVM. Copying is only needed when the RFA or KVM is locked, and then only Lock50 Change-ID keys are allowed.
Built into Version B — no per-job token for the module work. Alarm OFF via OBD & CAN wires, replace the RFA on a locked keyless module (SW28) or program a new RFA on an unlocked BCM (SW27), then program any key, OEM or non-OEM — swap the RFA alone, no BCM change, no Service Mode. No need to copy keys from the RFA or KVM. Program a new / spare key: SW36 £400.
Replacing the RFA also erases every old key. When you replace the RFA (SW28 locked BCM · SW27 unlocked BCM) all previously programmed keys are erased from the BCM as well as the RFA — only the keys you program in afterwards will start the car. On an unlocked RFA & BCM you can also add or remove single keys over OBD (SW29).
Why deleting old keys matters: a lost, stolen or unreturned key keeps its ID in the immobiliser and can still start the car until it is erased; used cars often carry keys from previous owners that nobody can account for; after a loss, an insurer can treat keys that were never erased as negligence; and once erased you know exactly how many keys are live.

Blank MCU route — reuse the client’s own RFA. Instead of buying a new RFA from Lock50 for every job, you can replace the MCU on the client’s own RFA with a HW52 SPC560B60L3 blank MCU (£20). Using the HW03-A solder-free adapter (£50) with chip-tool programmers, write the initial virgin-file data to the blank chip so the RFA works, then update it to the latest software in Lock50 for the car and program it in.
Which connection a job needs. On the older KVM system (the generation before RFA, roughly 2010–2021) every job is done over OBD only — KVM does not use a locked RFA, so there is nothing else to connect to. On the newer RFA system the key is still read and programmed over OBD, but where the RFA is locked and UWB is enabled you also make a quick connection to the RFA to authorise the immobiliser first — still no soldering and no removing parts. On Version B: replace the RFA on a locked keyless module (SW28, built in, no token), or add OEM UWB/PEPS keys on a locked EVA2 system (SW30 — see the SW30 note below). Version C includes SW36 — unlimited key programming and KVM / RFA key duplication with no key tokens — and adds the NCF29A1 key duplicator when the RFA is locked (SW35) with no tokens.
What Version C adds. Version B includes DOIP programming & diagnostics via ENET on 2022+ vehicles (SW37) and replacing the RFA on a locked keyless module (SW28). HW04-C adds locked-RFA UWB keys, the NCF29A1 key duplicator when the RFA is locked (SW35) and SW36 included — unlimited new / spare key programming (HW13 / HW14) and KVM / RFA key duplication with no key tokens — every SW36 key token you buy on B is credited 100% towards that upgrade.

Every HW04 is the same hardware. Version B adds CCF editor + as-built flashing, SDD / Pathfinder module VIN programming, New RFA programming, DOIP via ENET on 2022+ vehicles and Replace RFA on a locked keyless module (SW28) — swap the RFA alone, no BCM change, no Service Mode. On the older KVM system (roughly 2010–2021, the generation before RFA) every job is OBD-only. On the newer RFA system — especially where UWB is switched on — if the RFA is locked you also make a quick connection to the RFA itself to authorise the immobiliser; the key is still read and programmed over OBD — no soldering and no removing parts. Every new RFA below can be programmed in with the B package — SW28 on a locked BCM, SW27 on an unlocked BCM — with no per-job token. Or, if you buy a token (SW36 Key duplicator RFA when locked 2017–2025 £400 · SW34 HW05/HW06 PCF7953 key duplicator when KVM locked 2010–2022 £100), copy the key from the client’s RFA with the duplicator instead: it cuts the job short, avoids swapping any module, and every token earns points toward upgrades and keys.
