TCU / Telematics OFF for Jaguar & Land Rover — disable the telematics control unit (the built-in modem/tracker) so the car stops transmitting, for privacy or workshop use. Set via the CCF and coded to your VIN / As-Built over OBD, remote & mobile. Reversible with SW257.
What this activation does
- Turns off the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) — the car’s built-in mobile modem — so it stops sending data, location and connected-services traffic.
- Used for privacy, for vehicles going into storage/workshop, or where the connected services are not wanted.
- Select the entry matching the TCU fitted so it is disabled cleanly. Fully reversible with SW257. Coded to your VIN / As-Built.
Choose the option that matches your vehicle
| Dropdown option |
What it means |
| TCU not fitted |
No telematics unit fitted — factory place-holder, do not select. |
| Data Only TCU3 fitted |
Identifies a data-only TCU3 unit — select the entry that matches the TCU in your car. |
| Telematics TCU fitted |
Identifies a full telematics TCU — select the entry that matches the TCU in your car. |
| Data Only TCU fitted with microphone connection |
Data-only TCU that also has a microphone connection — select if this matches your car. |
| Error |
Factory place-holder value — not a real choice, do not select. |
Key terms explained
-
TCU (Telematics Control Unit): The car’s built-in mobile modem. It handles connected services, emergency call and remote app features — and is what a tracker uses to report position.
-
Telematics OFF: Coding that stops the TCU transmitting, without physically removing it. Reversible.
-
CCF (Car Configuration File): The master list of feature flags stored in the vehicle. Setting a value here switches a factory feature on or off. All of these activations are done by editing the CCF, not by fitting parts.
-
As-Built: Your vehicle's original factory configuration record, tied to the VIN. Every change is written back against your As-Built so the car stays consistent with JLR records.
-
Coded to your VIN: The change is applied to your specific vehicle over the OBD diagnostic port — remote and mobile, no bench work and no new hardware.
-
Error / Undefined: Factory enumeration place-holders that exist inside the parameter list. They are not real choices — do not select them. Pick the plain-English option that matches your vehicle.
The CCF parameters behind TCU / Telematics OFF
The dropdown above maps to these values in the Car Configuration File:

01 = no connectivity, 02 = cellular and WiFi, 03 = cellular only, 04 = WiFi only. |
Turning the TCU / telematics off stops the telematics control unit reporting over its cellular link — this is the stolen-vehicle tracker and connected-services modem. We set the telematics flags above so the module stops transmitting. It needs a car that actually has a TCU fitted; we check your As-Built first and keep a record of the original values so it can be restored.
TCU / Telematics OFF on Jaguar Land Rover — 2013 to 2026
Earliest model year the option existed on each line:
| Model |
Platform |
Model years |
Notes |
| Range Rover / Range Rover Sport |
L405 / L494 |
2013–2022 |
Telematics disable on cars with a TCU fitted. |
| Jaguar / Land Rover |
all lines |
2016–2026 |
Telematics disable on InControl cars with a TCU fitted. |
| Range Rover / Range Rover Sport |

2022–2026 |
Telematics disable on the current platforms. |
Earliest model year a TCU was fitted on each line. We confirm by VIN before any change.
Two ways we switch this on — both remote, no parts
Depending on model year and architecture, TCU / Telematics OFF is enabled by one of two methods. We pick the correct one for your VIN — you do not need to know which in advance.
-
CCF editing over OBD — on cars with a TCU fitted we set the telematics values above in the Car Configuration File, write them back against your As-Built, then re-configure the telematics module so it stops transmitting; we record the original values so it can be restored.
-
OEM-tool online configuration — where the module holding the flag needs its configuration re-issued from the manufacturer’s programming database rather than a direct CCF value, the same result is completed remotely through the OEM diagnostic tool’s online configuration for that module.
Either route is performed over the OBD diagnostic port, remote and mobile, with no bench work and no parts. The change is reversible the same way.
