HW18 (315 MHz) is a dual key — it works on both JLR RFA systems (2017 to 2026)

• PSFOB (without UWB) car: learn it directly — press the key button to open, keyless start inside. Same use as the OEM PSFOB (without UWB) keys HW15–HW20.
• PEPSFOB (with UWB) car: UWB must be turned off over OBD first — 1 Click on HW04 — then learn the key. After that the door-handle keyless entry still works, the key button works and keyless start works. The only thing lost is walk-away locking / unlocking — that needs the OEM PEPSFOB (with UWB) keys HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz).
• RFA condition for both: the RFA must be unlocked, or replaced with a new RFA. Locked RFA on an EVA2 2021+ car with 2 working keys or service mode: use the locked-RFA rows in the table below. Locked RFA on EVA1 (2017–2020): this key cannot be added — see the EVA1 row.

Before programming, check these two things on the car:

1. Is UWB already turned off? If the car was already a PSFOB (non-UWB) type, nothing to change. If UWB was enabled, turn it off in the BCM As-Built / CCF with the 1 Click option on HW04 first (any package A+ to C+).
2. Is the RFA locked or unlocked, and is UWB enabled in the BCM? Read the car over OBD with SW20 and check the RFA page — it shows locked / unlocked and whether UWB is enabled in the BCM. SW02 reads the key only: it tells you about that key, not the car — a PEPSFOB (with UWB) key read on its own can make a PSFOB (without UWB) car look like it has UWB and give wrong info.

To fit this key: replace the RFA with a new unlocked one, program it as new over OBD with HW04 (SW27 unlocked BCM / SW28 locked BCM, SW38 if the software is too high), then add this key to the new RFA (package B or C; works even with a locked BCM). Key facts

• No emulation work: the RFA emulation functions (SW04 / SW05 / SW07 / SW06) and BCM emulation (SW08) need a change-ID key, so they do not apply.
• RFA vehicles only (2017 to 2026); it will never work on KVM systems (2010–2014) — for those use the HW05 (433 MHz) to HW10 (315 MHz) range of keys.

All JLR RFA modules — which have UWB and which do not

The number in each RFA title (for example K8D2-19H440-AC) is the assembly part number. It is printed on the label on the outside of the RFA box, and it is the same number SW20 reads from the RFA over OBD. Read it and you know straight away what the RFA can do:

• Assembly part number ending -AB or -AC (HW50 / HW51) = PSFOB (without UWB) RFA. There is no UWB hardware inside it at all.
• Every other assembly part number (-AE, -BB, -BC, -BD, -BE, -BF, -CE, -DE, -DF) = PEPSFOB (with UWB) RFA. Any of these PEPSFOB (with UWB) RFAs can be fitted to any car that needs a UWB-type RFA (2017–2026) — match the plug count and family in the table below and program it as new with the HW04 tool. They also learn to any car that came with a PSFOB (without UWB) RFA (same plug count / family), so a PEPSFOB (with UWB) RFA covers every car — these are the RFAs to stock.
• PSFOB (without UWB) RFA: any key learns to it (HW18 (315 MHz) (or any PSFOB (without UWB) key HW15–HW20), or PEPSFOB (with UWB) HW21–HW28), but the car is always key button + keyless start — door-handle keyless is impossible, there is no UWB hardware inside.
• PEPSFOB (with UWB) RFA: PEPSFOB (with UWB) keys HW21–HW28 give door-handle keyless (walk-away only with OEM HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz) on 2022+ cars, never with HW21–HW26). Lock50 HW17 (433 MHz) / HW18 (315 MHz): UWB off first (routes in the table at the top), then door-handle keyless too, only walk-away lost. OEM PSFOB (without UWB) keys HW15–HW20 learn too, but key-button only (UWB off in the BCM CCF first). Copy keys HW13 (433 MHz) / HW14 (315 MHz) work on either RFA type.
