Before programming, check these two things on the car:

Is UWB already turned off? If the car was already a PSFOB (non-UWB) type, nothing to change. If UWB was enabled, turn it off in the BCM As-Built / CCF with the 1 Click option on HW04 first (any package A+ to C+).
Is the RFA locked or unlocked, and is UWB enabled in the BCM? Read the car over OBD with SW20 and check the RFA page — it shows locked / unlocked and whether UWB is enabled in the BCM. SW02 reads the key only: it tells you about that key, not the car — a key with UWB read on its own can make a non-UWB car look like it has UWB and give wrong info.

Key facts

Fixed-ID key, not a change-ID key: it can only be added to the RFA as a new key.
Add over OBD with HW04, or into the RFA SPC560B MCU dump on the bench with HW04 (SW13 new / SW14 used); unlock the dump first if the RFA is locked. No emergency start when added via dump.
No emulation work: the RFA emulation functions (SW04 / SW05 / SW07 / SW06) and BCM emulation (SW08) need a change-ID key, so they do not apply.
RFA vehicles only (2017 to 2026); it will never work on KVM systems (2010–2014) — for those use the HW05 (433 MHz) to HW10 (315 MHz) range of keys.

A copy key (HW13 (433 MHz) / HW14 (315 MHz)) opens and starts the car like the key it copies on any 2017–2026 system, except walk-away lock / unlock — that only works with the OEM UWB keys HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz), never with a copy key.

Older KVM keys (2010–2014) are a different immobiliser and are not covered by this range — use the HW05 (433 MHz) to HW10 (315 MHz) range of keys (HW05 (433 MHz) / HW06 (315 MHz) / HW07 (433 MHz) / HW08 (315 MHz) / HW09 (433 MHz) / HW10 (315 MHz)).

Lock50 software functions for this key

SW02	Read the key (bench / key tool, no OBD) — part, frequency, key position and the key’s own flags. It reads the key, not the car.
SW20	Read the car over OBD (RFA page) — shows if the RFA is locked / unlocked and whether UWB is enabled. Do this first.
SW29	Add / remove keys over OBD when the RFA and BCM are unlocked — the standard way to learn this key.
SW30	Add key number 3 over OBD on a locked EVA2 car (2021+) with 2 working keys or service mode — only if the car is already PSFOB (non-UWB).
SW40	Unlock a locked EVA2 RFA over OBD (no service mode) — then learn this key; you can also erase old keys and program new ones into the RFA and BCM.
SW25	UWB off (1 Click) over OBD — unlocked BCM and RFA. Needed only if the car currently has UWB enabled.
SW27	Program a new RFA, unlocked BCM — when the RFA has to be replaced, then learn this key.
SW28	Program a new RFA, locked BCM (L8B2 / R8E2 / M8E2) — when the RFA has to be replaced, then learn this key.
SW38	Downgrade the RFA software over OBD when it is too high (HW04-B / C) — before RFA programming or key adding.
SW13	Add this key to the RFA dump on the bench (new key) — RFA unlocked, or unlocked first. Remote + start work, no emergency start this way.
SW14	Add a used / locked key to the RFA dump on the bench — same as SW13, no emergency start this way.

Advice for clients

The cheapest fixed-ID high-grade OEM Land Rover key without UWB — for RFA vehicles 2017 to 2026 only.
First check on the car with SW20 over OBD (RFA page): is the RFA locked or unlocked, and is UWB enabled in the BCM? SW02 only reads the key, not the car.
UWB off is only needed if the car had UWB enabled. A car that was already PSFOB (non-UWB) type: learn the key directly, no UWB change.
HW15 (433 MHz) (OEM PSFOB non-UWB NCF29A4V fixed-ID key) cannot be copied onto — no SW35, no SW36, no key-to-key — and it cannot emulate another key (SW04 / SW05 / SW07 / SW06 / SW08 need a change-ID key). It can be added over OBD, or into the RFA dump with SW13 / SW14 (no emergency start that way). For copy jobs use HW13 (433 MHz) / HW14 (315 MHz) change-ID keys.

All JLR RFA modules — which have UWB and which do not

The number in each RFA title (for example K8D2-19H440-AC) is the assembly part number. It is printed on the label on the outside of the RFA box, and it is the same number SW20 reads from the RFA over OBD. Read it and you know straight away what the RFA can do:

Assembly part number ending -AB or -AC (HW50 / HW51) = PSFOB (without UWB) RFA. There is no UWB hardware inside it at all.
Every other assembly part number (-AE, -BB, -BC, -BD, -BE, -BF, -CE, -DE, -DF) = PEPSFOB (with UWB) RFA.
On a PSFOB (without UWB) RFA you can learn any key — a PSFOB (without UWB) key such as HW15 (433 MHz) / HW16 (315 MHz) / HW17 (433 MHz) / HW18 (315 MHz), or a PEPSFOB (with UWB) key such as HW21 (433 MHz)–HW26 (315 MHz) or HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz). Whatever key you learn, the car works as a PSFOB (without UWB) system: key button to open and close the doors, push-button keyless start inside. Door-handle keyless is impossible — the RFA has nothing inside to do it, so no UWB key can add it.
On a PEPSFOB (with UWB) RFA a PEPSFOB (with UWB) key gives door-handle keyless (walk-away only with OEM HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz)). A PSFOB (without UWB) key such as HW15 (433 MHz) still learns to it, but works as key-button only — turn UWB off first with SW25 (1 Click on HW04) if the car had UWB enabled.
HW21 (433 MHz)–HW26 (315 MHz) on a walk-away car (2022+, came with HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz)): they learn to the RFA and give door-handle keyless, key button and keyless start — but walk-away lock / unlock will not work with them. Walk-away works only with the OEM HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz) keys.
Copy keys HW13 (433 MHz) / HW14 (315 MHz) work on either RFA type. Non-UWB car (EVA1 2017–2020, RFA locked): copy over OBD with SW35 + HW03-D. UWB-enabled car (2017–2026): copy with SW36 + HW03-C and the copy key works the same as a PEPSFOB (with UWB) key — door-handle keyless, key button and keyless start. Only walk-away lock / unlock cannot work on a copy key (OEM HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz) only).
