| Key type | OEM Land Rover PEPSFOB (with UWB) walk-away — fixed ID, programmed as a new key |
| Transponder | NCF29AFV (NCF29AFVHN marking), 315 MHz remote |
| Works on | RFA vehicles 2022 to 2026 — RFA families JPLA / K8D2 / J9C3 / M9R3, 1-plug, 2-plug and 3-plug RFA |
| What the car does | door-handle keyless entry, key button, keyless start and walk-away lock / unlock — emergency start and remote as normal |
| Programming | Over OBD with HW04 (RFA + BCM), or in the RFA EEPROM dump on the bench; new-RFA programming over DoIP / Topix Cloud Diagnostic Agent or HW04 |
| Control module | RFA (Remote Function Actuator) |

| Car state | How to add this key | Where |
|---|---|---|
| RFA unlocked (any car 2017–2026) | Learn this key directly over OBD with HW04 — any package A+ to C+. Nothing to change in the car first. | OBD |
| RFA locked, EVA2 2021+ | Add without unlocking: SW30 adds any key type suitable for the vehicle over OBD, including OEM and non-OEM keys. On locked EVA2, it requires two working keys detected by the vehicle or active service mode. It adds keys without erasing existing keys or unlocking the RFA. Place both keys inside the car at the same time and run RFA Check Keys. Confirm that the vehicle detects two keys; owning two fobs or seeing two stored key slots is not enough. Unlock or replace: unlock the RFA with SW40 then learn this key (after the unlock you can also erase the old keys and program new keys into the RFA and BCM, no parts swapped); or fit a new RFA and adapt it (package B or C) — works even with a locked BCM. SW40 unlock eligibility: Telematics Phase 4 Plus: SW40 cannot unlock the RFA over OBD or CAN wires unless Check Keys detects two keys together inside the car. Run Check Keys before choosing the unlock route. Service mode is an alternative for SW30 add-key, not a substitute for this SW40 two-key requirement. The existing 0/1-key CAN-wires route applies only to supported EVA2 vehicles without Telematics Phase 4 Plus; it does not bypass the Phase 4 Plus two-key requirement. | OBD |
| RFA locked, EVA1 (2017–2020) | This fixed-ID key cannot be added to a locked RFA. To fit this key: replace the RFA with a new unlocked one, program it as new over OBD with HW04 (SW27 unlocked BCM / SW28 locked BCM, SW38 if the software is too high), then add this key to the new RFA (package B or C; works even with a locked BCM). Alternative without changing the RFA: copy the existing key onto a HW13 (433 MHz) / HW14 (315 MHz) change-ID key with SW36 + HW03-C — the copy gives door-handle keyless, key button and keyless start; only walk-away lock / unlock is missing. | Replace RFA |
| RFA dump on the bench (HW04) | With the HW04 tool (SW01–SW15 functions; HW01 also runs them). RFA unlocked: read the RFA SPC560B MCU DFLASH dump, add this key with SW13 (new key) or SW14 (used / locked key) and write it back. RFA locked: unlock the dump first, then add this key. Remote and start work — no emergency start this way. | Bench |
| Copy an existing key onto this key | Not possible — this is a fixed-ID key, nothing can be copied onto it (no SW35, SW36 or key-to-key). For copy / duplicate jobs use the HW13 (433 MHz) or HW14 (315 MHz) change-ID keys. | Not possible |
Every JLR key in this range gives you push-button keyless start inside the car — that is the same on all of them. The only difference is how you open and close the doors. There are 3 ways:
A copy key (HW13 (433 MHz) / HW14 (315 MHz)) opens and starts the car like the key it copies on any 2017–2026 system, except walk-away lock / unlock — that only works with the OEM UWB keys HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz), never with a copy key.
Tap any key below to open its page.
| Key(s) | How doors open / close | Works on which cars | When to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Copy key (change-ID) → all keys | Same as the key it copies: PSFOB (without UWB — key button) or PEPSFOB (with UWB — door-handle button). | All 2017–2026 cars, UWB or non-UWB, EVA1 or EVA2. | Copy an existing key. Non-UWB car (EVA1 2017–2020, RFA locked): over OBD with SW35 + HW03-D. UWB-enabled car (2017–2026): with SW36 + HW03-C — the copy works the same as a PEPSFOB (with UWB) key, full keyless, only walk-away missing. Never learned over OBD as a new key. |
| OEM PSFOB (without UWB) → all keys | Press the key button only. | Cars that came PSFOB (without UWB) 2017–2026. | RFA unlocked → add as a new key over OBD or in the RFA dump. |
| Lock50 PSFOB (without UWB) / PEPSFOB (with UWB) → all keys | Press the key button, or the door-handle button. | UWB and non-UWB cars 2017–2026 (turn UWB off first, SW25). | RFA unlocked → the cheapest new key; first choice when adding a key. |
| OEM PEPSFOB (with UWB) → all keys |
UWB car: door-handle button or key button. Non-UWB car: key button only (RKE remote) — the car has no keyless antennas in the doors. |
Any 2017–2026 car, UWB or non-UWB. On a non-UWB car it works the same as a PSFOB (without UWB) key. | New key. All entry and start works — no walk-away. |
|
HW27 (433 MHz) / HW28 (315 MHz)
OEM walk-away → all keysTHIS KEY
|
Walk up to unlock, walk away to lock — no button. | 2022+ walk-away cars. | New key. The only key that gives walk-away. |
Note: every key above gives the same push-button keyless start inside the car — only the way you open / close the doors changes.
All models covered 2022+ with the same type of key shape as pictured — Land Rover Defender L663 (2020+), Discovery 5 L462 (2017+), Discovery Sport L550 (2018+), Range Rover Sport L494 (2018+), Range Rover Velar L560 (2017+), Range Rover Evoque L551 (2019+), Range Rover L405 (2018+) and Jaguar XE X750 (2020+).
Every function below runs on the HW04 tool (the bench dump functions also run on HW01). Each one is listed once — tap it to open its own page. For the full step-by-step routes, use the “How to add this key” table near the top.
| Function | What it does & when you need it |
|---|---|
| SW02 | Read the key (bench / key tool, no OBD) — part, frequency, key position and the key’s own flags. It reads the key, not the car. |
| SW20 | Read the car over OBD (RFA page) — shows if the RFA is locked / unlocked. Do this first. |
| SW29 | Add / remove keys over OBD when the RFA and BCM are unlocked — the standard way to learn this key. |
| SW40 | Unlock a locked EVA2 RFA over OBD after RFA Check Keys detects two keys together inside the car (service mode does not replace this check) — then learn this key; you can also erase old keys and program new ones into the RFA and BCM. |
| SW27 | Program a new RFA, unlocked BCM — when the RFA has to be replaced, then learn this key. |
| SW28 | Program a new RFA, locked BCM (L8B2 / R8E2 / M8E2) — when the RFA has to be replaced, then learn this key. |
| SW38 | Downgrade the RFA software over OBD when it is too high (HW04-B / C) — before RFA programming or key adding. |
| SW13 | Add this key to the RFA dump on the bench (new key) — RFA unlocked, or unlocked first. Remote + start work, no emergency start this way. |
| SW14 | Add a used / locked key to the RFA dump on the bench — same as SW13, no emergency start this way. |
The number in each RFA title (for example K8D2-19H440-AC) is the assembly part number. It is printed on the label on the outside of the RFA box, and it is the same number SW20 reads from the RFA over OBD. Read it and you know straight away what the RFA can do:
