Lock50 HW05-A JLR Change-ID Key — 433 MHz

The Lock50 HW05-A is a high-grade JLR smart (proximity) key for Jaguar & Land Rover vehicles. It is a 5-button keyless fob running on PCF7953 (Hitag Pro / ID49) at 433 MHz, built to OEM spec with full Remote (RKE), Passive Entry (PKE), keyless entry and emergency-start functions.

Every Lock50 key is a Change-ID key: it can be written up to 10 times to copy a key. Once the copy is done you simply hand the finished key to your customer.

How to copy & use this key

Key-to-key copy
Best when you already have a working key. Place the original key on the Lock50 HW01 Key Tool, read the key data, press Copy Key, then place the HW05-A on the reader and write. It finishes in seconds and turns a worn, cloned or low-grade key into a fresh high-grade Lock50 key — no vehicle, no OBD, no tokens.

MCU-dump copy (KVM)
Best when you have no working key but you can read the module. Take a KVM (Keyless Vehicle Module) dump from the on-board MCU — MC9S12XET256 / MC9S12XEQ384 — open the dump in the Lock50 tool, pick the key position (slot) you want, and write it to the HW05-A. Programming is handled through the module D-Flash and EEPROM, so the finished key is a full match for that vehicle.

Bench copy with HW03-CB — no opening
The fastest bench route with the module out of the car and no opening, no soldering and no chip removal. Plug the KVM straight into the Lock50 HW03-CB KVM/RFA 2-in-1 test cable (fed 12V); the HW03-CB chains through the HW03-D OBD cable into the HW04 tool. Read the module on the bench, then write the key data to the HW05-A. No damage to the module, and it drops straight back into the vehicle afterwards.

Add or copy over OBD (KVM)
The in-vehicle route — plug the HW04 into the OBD port. These keys live on the KVM: when the KVM is unlocked you add a new key over OBD; when the KVM is locked you copy the key over OBD. Either way the HW05-A is programmed in the car with no module removal.

Tools required

To write data to this key you need the Lock50 HW01 JLR Key Tool or the Lock50 HW04 OBD Tool. Bench copy without opening the module uses the HW03-CB KVM/RFA 2-in-1 test cable (with the HW03-D OBD cable). These keys work on the KVM: a new key is added over OBD when the KVM is unlocked, and copied over OBD when it is locked.

On the bench / key tool (no OBD)

Function What it does & when you need it
SW01 Read this key — part, frequency, key position and locked status. Always identify the key first.
SW03 Add a new key (new ID). A brand-new key ID is written into the files, so the new files must be written back to the module. No emergency start on this route.
SW09 Copy the current key slot. Keeps emergency start and the key is also stored in the BCM. No new key ID is added, so no write-back of a new dump is needed.
SW10 Direct key-to-key copy for damaged keys — avoids repairs, done in seconds.
SW11 Unlock a locked key without opening it, then relearn the key.

Over OBD (in the vehicle)

Advice for clients

Identify the key first with SW01. For a working spare, the quickest route is a direct SW10 copy or, where the emergency start must be kept, SW09 (the key is also stored in the BCM). To add a fresh key ID use SW03 (new files are written back; no emergency start on that route). A locked key can be recovered with SW11 — no opening required. In the car, use SW29 to add or remove keys when the KVM or RFA is unlocked, and SW34 to duplicate this key over OBD when the KVM is locked. Use SW32 to take the alarm / arm state off when needed. All of these run on the HW04 tool.
